📌 National Service Scheme (NSS)
The National Service Scheme (NSS) is a Central Sector Scheme of Government of India,
Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports. It provides opportunity to the Graduate & Post Graduate student
of Technical Institution, at colleges and University level of India to take part in various
government led community service activities & programs. The sole aim of the NSS is to provide
hands-on experience to young students in delivering community service.
The Scheme, popularly known as NSS has been established from 2004 at this institute to build social
& moral values in the budding pharmacists. Various activities that benefit the society such as blood
group detection, blood Hb determination, BMI, eye checkup, sugar checkup blood donation camps, tree
plantation, cleaning of historical places, Soil and water analysis etc have been regularly carried
out.
Formerly, the NSS unit was headed by Dr. A. A. Phatak from 2003 to 2006; Prof. V. C. Gajghate from
2006 to 2008; & Dr. V. V. Chopade from 2008 to 2015. The college has received “Best NSS Unit Award”
and Prof. Chopade received Best NSS Co-ordinator award.
Presently, the College has an active NSS Unit of 100 students. Dr. A. S. Tapkir is heading the unit since 2016 accompanied by Prof. A. S. More as a female representative.
It’s a matter of pride that Dr. A. S. Tapkir has been appointed as Member, NSS Camp Management Committee and Area Coordinator (PCMC area) by the University.
